ABOUT THE PARKIn June 1997 The Elsie A. Holmes Nature Park was opened in honor of his wife Mrs. Elsie Holmes. Mr. Ben Holmes wanted to provide a place for people to experience the beauty of this natural environment for many generations to come. The park includes over two miles of hiking/walking trails through 66 acres of hardwood forest and wooded creek bottom land along the South Chickamauga Creek. Many different species of wild flowers, plants and trees can be found. There is also a trail located on the ridge that is accessible for hiking type strollers and those with limited abilities.
